I think I need a :squee: right now XD

BOY am I happy with how this came out. I know that the arms could be better, but I honestly think that their simplicity works for this. This was made for the Self-MOC off Tournament over on MOCpages and my opponent is Everox Toa of Plasma. We were given the category of Asian Warrior, and of course, my first thought was Samurai. :iconfacepalmplz:
Building this was a lot of fun actually, and I am really happy with how it came out over all. The torso was a bit of a bugger to work, but I think I did rather well in getting the look I wanted. The "skirt" was really fun to work out, as just before the categories were announced I was working on another Fe-MOC with a skirt similar to this, and this gave me the perfect opportunity to use it :happybounce: The braid was a last minute idea, that I thought came out looking quite good. And yes, I took a bit of a liberty with the main weapon. Sue me :P I did still put in a Tachi (?) I think they're called. So =P
I forgot what else I planned on saying, so... oh well! XD

Tell me what'cha think! :)

Looks like it would make an epic toa from an Asian themed team. Either the Leader or the Big Guy.
Good job, looks great.

This is so freakin cool! I'm drooling over that much orange being on a single MOC. I like the way you kept the black on the forearms. To me it looks like an undergarment and the orange is all the proper armor. I think you should keep that. This is a wonderfully well done MOC Gale, one of your best yet.

Lol, thanks Dave, it wasn't easy to use that orange XD And yeah, I was going for the black as undergarment look, glad it came across well for someone :)

It did. I understood what you were going for, but then again, I know that no one's naked under battle armor. You could have even gon as far as giving him a Kimono that would have concealed the legs even more by having various black parts drape down. Its too bad you had to use the self MOC mask. Going ultra traditional on this and giving him an oniesque mask would have sent this over the top in terms of awesomeness. I've wanted to build a Samurai, but the concept is played out a little bit so I never held it in high priority. But I know that if I took a serious swing at it it'd be a pretty involved MOC with a lot of detail. As a kid I was exposed to a lot of japanese culture through my uncle(in law), he lived there for a time when he was young and knew a lot about it. So to do one would mean I'd go hyper researched and accurate to just about every bit. I'd really cross my T's and dot my I's.

I probably could have, but didn't think about it much beyond the look of the main skirt there. I really wish I could have done a more custom and traditional looking mask too, I even had a good idea on what to do, but like you said, I had to keep the mask of the original. -.-
However, seeing you do something like that would be fantastic. ;) You really should consider it, despite the research and frustration that would have to be addressed.

I realy like the use of those masks as shoulders, they give them a nice flow, but still buff enough to pack a strong, mean swing :D. His neck seems a bit short, but being armored like a samurai, I guess that's ok ;).

Thank you. Having several of those orange Pakari I need some way to use them, and that just seems to work XD

nice build indeed, but I think he could use a second color (not counting black).

He probably could, but the original was only orange and black, so this one had to be too.
