Ooh, this guy looks good!
Lime and purple working so well together, and those wings!

This looks really, really good!

I see I'm not the only one having fun with CHi Razar's parts. :giggle: I like the idea but I don't really think it works here. It feels like some Chima Rave with Aivren smushed inthere. To me I think there's a sever lack of lime green to really make this feel like an alternate form of Aivren. Still though the build is really cool, I think its more the color blocking that doesn't sell the idea to me. I really like your torsos Gale, you always have really awesome torso builds.

Nope, I quite enjoyed using them here XD Hmmm, I personally thought that I did it at least medially well, but I guess you can't please em all  I actually liked the lack of lime green here. I wanted there to be a bit more initially, but as the build went on, I liked the idea of making it an underlying color, hiding it under the gunmetal and black bits. I'm glad you like the build though :) And yeah, I always strive to make a new and unique torso with most of my builds. The torso is really one of the places you can customize a MOC and that is one of the places I put the most work into. I'll often have a pair of legs and a mask or a head lying around for a few hours/days depending on how long the build is taking, and the torso goes through five or six different versions at first, then a few more times after the rest is finished XD I'm just glad I do most of the building in my head, otherwise it would take much longer XD

I can understand wanting to use lime as an accent color. That's like the red bits on Gweeb. However I just think Aivren gets kinda lost in this MOC.

Agreed, torsos are the most easily customizable parts of a humanoid MOC, but that can often mean a custom torso with fairly bland limbs. I try to do custom areas throughout a MOC if I go for a really custom look. I also try to make the limbs fit the style or vibe of the torso that way it looks more seamless and fluid as if its all part of the same being. The exception to that is if the limb isn't actually part of the being or is like a robot arm or something like that. Then its fun to purposefully make it look distinct from the rest of the MOC. And after looking at it smore more I gotta say this MOC has some kinda bland arms. The legs don't have that problem too much. The arms though I think are worth readdressing.

I kinda went through this process with Dala. I'm completely a tinkerer. Not a whole lot of building goes on in my head and a lot of the ideas come about sitting in front of the parts. As far as any kind of order its very inconsistent. Sometimes I'll start with a head and work from the top down, other MOCs like Grayskayl ended up being from the bottom up. Others its like "oh that's a cool torso idea lets use that", like with Furnace. So really its more a point of inspiration origin. If its a foot design that inspires me, I start there, if its a head, i start there. My current build started at the front but I quickly found a really cool design for the back(which I showed you) and so it became about how to get the two together which has been difficult cause I've had to kinda work from both ends which wasn't working. Finally I said fuck it and started from the front and began working my way back which is a much more natural work flow. Now I've just gotta figure out a better way of getting the back end to fit together with what I already have. Its not quite working but I'll move a few things around and it should be better.

He's alive!  This guy is really good, an accurate portrayal of the figures.  The wings are great, I think we got the same set for MOC fodder.  ;)  I like how you incorporated the original in the color scheme, a good touch.  The bulk is good, though somewhat unbalanced.  I may just have to borrow some of these designs, with credit, of course.  Glad to see you're still around, and competing.  I look forward to the later rounds!
